Loose Thoughts

The thread I posted this in before seems to have vanished so I will restate it here.

Taking something that belongs to somebody else is stealing. Saying you "felt called" to an object does not change the fact that doing so makes you a common thief. (and is a borderline insane excuse for stealing) It does not matter who you are or your position or your claimed level of spirituality. In fact if your spirituality does not teach you that stealing is wrong under any circumstance then your spirituality is pretty worthless. Taking another faerie's personal property at a faerie gathering makes you exactly as bad as one who steals your bike from a park. (which happend to me last month and explains my concern with this issue) In fact in that context where some level of trust is assumed it is actually worse.

Legalize Hemp and Cannabis in California

Please help these words to ripple... ripple becomes a wave... wave becomes a tsunami... pretty soon love and compassion are the law of the land and far fewer honest people are jailed, beaten, or robbed!

Right now there are two competing signature drives to put Cannabis legalization initiatives on the ballot in California in November 2010.

One is found at www.taxcannabis2010.org

The other is found at www.CaliforniaCannabisInitiative.org

Please look carefully at the text of both laws (the text of each is finalized) and make up your own mind which one you support.

I am supporting www.CaliforniaCannabisInitiative.org because our law will protect Cannabis users from discrimination in

healthcare, employment, and housing. It is a full legalization measure for industrial hemp and recreational cannabis which will restore full human rights to Hemp farmers and Cannabis users all across California. Of course supplying Cannabis to children will remain illegal just as it is today. Driving vehicles under the influence will remain illegal just as it is today. Cannabis users will still be fired from their jobs if they show up to work impaired.

There are two parts to our plan. The first part is to publicly post and personally distribute our "Freedom Lover's Call to Arms" in order to recruit volunteers. This document is available here-

The second part of our plan is to ask everyone who volunteers to make a pledge for how many signatures they can collect in

the next 30 days or so. 15-30 signatures is a good number. If enough volunteers show this level of commitment we can succeed. You can probably get that number from your family members, friends, co-workers, and neighbors without having to solicit in public too much. This is an "out of the closet" movement. We will have to proudly advocate human rights for responsible, honest, hard-working Cannabis smokers in order to convince legitimate people to support us. I can supply stickers equivalent to each persons pledge number. These stickers can be used to generate interest and be given to voters who sign the petition. Here is the sticker design-

We have 145 days in order to get the number of signatures that we need. Our petition is hot off the press on 9/11 and we

have started collecting the first signatures yesterday 9/12.

We are polling 56% public support for Cannabis legalization in California which menas that this is an initiative which is not doomed. Its time has finally arrived; we are at the tipping point right now. Now is the time to do this and to do it right. We may only get one chance. If a law which is not exactly what we want is implemented then we may lose our critical mass and our ability to set it right.

I believe that less adults will smoke cannabis after it is legal. This is the case in the Netherlands where it has been

available over-the-counter for 30 years yet only half as many citizens (percentage-wise) smoke as do citizens here. My economics professor has taught for years that prohibition has not succeeded in decreasing usage by increasing penalties. Instead it has destroyed lives and families without substantial benefit to society. After legalization hard-drug usage will decrease due to a "separation of the markets," a decline in the price of Cannabis relative to hard-drugs, and the restoration of honesty and common sense in drug education. Violence, thievery, and the incarceration of honest people will decrease as well. I also believe that a well regulated market will decrease the availability and appeal of cannabis to children. In fact teenage Cannabis use in California has fallen steadily since the passage of Proposition 215. Furthermore the adults who smoke Cannabis after legalization will be better able appreciate the majesty of nature in peace and unity without learning to fear and disrespect authority figures. This will be better for their spirits and better for society. Finally the human rights of legitimate medical Cannabis patients will be better protected than they are today. Legalizing Cannabis will create a safer, healthier, and more humane California for us all to live in.

Need a place for the winter near SF

Hey, faeries.

My partner Harlan and I are coming to the California Bay Area this fall, and we are trying to find a place to stay through the winter.

Most important is that we find a place to stay for little or no rent -- we're in the middle of a big transition in our lives, and we're looking for some time and space to figure out what comes next for us. We are very happy to discuss things like work trade, non-monetary exchanges, caretaking/house-sitting situations, and the like. We are not at all picky about amenities, and don't mind considering any sort of unusual situation. Hoping to be close to the urb, but willing to think about rural locales too.

We are hoping to find a place to stay through the end of the winter, but really, we're interested to hear about anything people might have to offer. I think that we're both pretty awesome (but that's my take), and could truly use some help in the next few months in order to gather ourselves for lives of being more in service to our community and our planet. There are a number of people who could act as character refs for us if you don't know us personally -- just ask.

This call goes out to Radical Faeries to join together in San Francisco this October 2 to 4, 2009, to invigorate and inspire each other and to help lay the way for Radical Faeries around the world to achieve higher levels of awareness and cooperative action.

In honour of the 30th anniversary of the first national Radical Faerie gathering in 1979, we are gathering together once again to reflect upon and celebrate our hirstory, accomplishments and creative genius.

We are planning a gorgeous event of sharing information, thought-provoking ideas and reflections, and scrumptious entertainment. Last year’s FAEposium was intellectually juicy and gorgeously fun. We think this year’s event is not to be missed!

This, our second annual FAEposium, is no stodgy academic conference, but a mixture of faerie performance, inspirational papers, thought-provoking panels and lively discussions. We take as our model the classical Greek Symposia which were a mix of philosophical thought, entertainment, laughter, feasting, and propitiation of the gods.

What topic are you passionate for our community to talk about? Submit a proposal to facilitate that conversation! We’re interested in whatever creative ideas, wisdom or performative genius you would like to offer to the greater faerie community. We are not terribly impressed by academic credentials, but we are impressed by new ideas, provocative propositions, entertaining presentation styles, and thinking that may affect the development of our community and its future.

Performances

We invite live performances that offer more than art for art’s sake (or camp for camp’s sake)—we want to encourage thoughtful performances that engage and inspire the audience through their content, beauty or complexity.

Workshops, Panels and Presentations

These offer an opportunity to discuss and record our history; explore ideas that you feel passionate about that would be of interest or benefit to the Radical Faerie Community; examine issues confronting the Radical Faerie movement at this critical time; consider ways in which Radical Faeries in urban and rural settings can develop new gatherings and create new sanctuaries; provide venues for skill-sharing of many different types; explore the most pressing needs facing Faerie sanctuaries to help insure their strong future.

The FAEposium is a chance to share our collective and individual wisdom, and creative genius with the larger faerie community and the rest of the world. If you care about where our community is, you probably have something to say and we want to help you express it... using presentation styles most comfortable and best suited to you. • When someone makes a statement let them. If you have questions about the statement ask them but do not be surprised if you get the original statement as the answer to your question. Repeating this process = “don’t get it”

• Asking questions slightly different to get a different answer will likely result in the original statement or answer repeated, with more questions.

• Changing or substituting words for the other person is not OK and is a boundary for some people.

• Taking a break from a conversation is OK. Especially if it is to think about what the other person said and breathe.

I hope you had a wonderful Beltane. Here in Tennessee it has been stated to have been "The Wettest Beltane Ever!" The may hole was completely filled with rain water and she was spewing out on all sides like a streams of juicey goodness.

I am Flying to Seattle on May 27th and I have a ride to Portland around the 7th of June. I was hoping to find a ride to Wolf Creek from Portland to arrive before Naraya and/or possibly a place to stay while I am visiting Portland.

i am leaving port angeles around 5pm on wednesday 4/29 and driving the hood canal
to olympia....could pick someone up in olympia around 7ish or portland or any other points down
I-5 throughout the evening...probably won't arrive to the land until 2am...
gas money would be needed and appreciated muchly...

also, we are planning to return up this way sunday 5/3 leaving the land noonish and
stopping in eugene for 4 or 5 hours on the way back if

The Skills for New Millennium Tour hits the road again in 2009 bringing you skills you need to meet the challenges of the New Millennium. Change can be intimidating. Therefore, the skills we offer; grounded in decades of activism, poverty, and spiritual consciousness; emphasize making small, marginal changes that are critical to survival in difficult economic times, changes that help you live what you believe.

The improved Earth Activist Training (EAT) Permaculture Demonstration Bus (Permibus II) is on the road, visiting communities nationwide, in order to offer you and your community practical skills to help you wrest control of your life from corporate hands. The PermiBus is a 36-foot mobile permaculture demonstration project in progress; complete with solar power, greywater system, herb garden, composting toilet, three dogs, a clutch of chickens, and a box of worms. Our goal? To teach practical skills that make you and your community more environmentally and economically sustainable.

The Skills for the New Millennium Tour offers programs to anyone who wants to host a Skills Event: individuals, community groups, high schools, colleges, intentional communities.... Hello all, the intention for this years beltaine is that if at all possible people could show up early to help. There are few faeries actually living on the land and doing the land work. There are a few projects in mind, weed wacking the meadows so we can dance around in them without getting all those burrs and twigs caught up in our skirts and trousers, a new shitter hole built(or maybe even a new shelter for it).The parking lot shitter has gotten to full now and needs to be moved. It is not urgent but at some point if someone could help out the garden house sink.No worries or pressure though it will be fixed in time.
For a gathering at wolf creek there are a few things that are needed to start the ball rolling, those things are; Food,Money,Fluffying and cleaning up the sanctuary and its alters, check fire stations(make sure all the supplies are there and its safe are ready for emergencies), there are first aid kits in the houses, and cleaning up the shitters.
So becuase we have to raise enough money to be able to do all of this. Some of us faries have thought about having a fun(d) raiser. We are thinking of having a dance party and selling some hand made crafts at the front. We are also trying to do a no talent show at fairie coffee. Now if any of you feel called to help with any of this please email me and let me know. I will have more details on the fund raiser as i speak with more people involved. It will happen sometime before BELTAINE witch is MAY 1 ,2009. You will be able to sign up and register for beltaine at the table at the dance night fund raiser. Now we ask you to please pre-register so we can get an idea as to how many people will be showing up. There will also be an online registeration as well and in my next blog i will update you on the process and the webpage and where you can go to to register.
At gatherings at wolf creek becuase its owned by a non-profit company called nomenus. the gatherings have to be fueled on donations and this year we are going to try a fund raiser as well.
At gatherings we usually say Bring yourself and what you can afford more if you can less if you cant no one turned away for lack of funds. This year someone came up with another similar idea of what you give at a gathering Give As You Are Able But Always Give Something.
I know sometimes its hard to have money and I am one to not always have that either, but I try to plug in somewhere where I feel called and help out. This year Im going to be one of the kitchen queens and I allready have volunteers to help out and if you feel called you can help too. Helping keep dishes in line is good too there are alot of people to feed and not alot of dishes to go around. And plus you get to eat first when you do the dishes.lol :) anywho.
There are some people putting together the beltaine call I am one of those people as well so when it is written up I will post it and some other poeple will probably post it as well. We will send it out through emails and it will be mailed out the 1st March.
I hope you are all well and I look forward to celebrating Beltaine with everyone who feels called to go this year. Its going to be good.

Emotion is a pure energy state. An extreme emotion may carry thoughts embedded in it, like flies in amber, that appear to be a part of the emotion if it has been suppressed for a long time, but these thoughts are simply impurities rising to the surface, and not the intrinsic nature of the emotion itself. These thoughts are thoughts that became mixed in with the feelings when they were suppressed in the trauma of the original experience that was never released. All emotion, even very extreme states such as rage and terror, call for release through pure vibration in movement and sound.

Emotions may be ‘negative’ in the sense of ‘the negative polarity to the positive polarity of the light’, ie, the ‘other half that makes a whole’, but they are not negative in the sense of being ‘anti’ or against the light, hostile, oppositional to life or the natural unfolding of Creation, no matter how they may look or behave now. All emotions have a reason for their current state, and just because you now find yourselves holding emotions that have become so dark and compressed that they frighten you and appear to be evil, that does not make the emotions to blame for their compression nor does it make them the problem.

A severely abused child may present a problem to its adoptive family with behaviors that act out its cry for help, nurturing and love. This is the way the emotions can be, or seem to be a problem. But the emotions are not the cause of the problem any more than the child is.

As with the child, it is how you treat your emotions that determines whether or not they continue to be a problem. How do you think about your emotions? For while emotions are passive and responsive to circumstances and experiences, thoughts are active. It is with your thoughts that you create, that you enact your lives. How do your thoughts make you feel?

Do you call your emotions names? Do you judge yourself for having your emotions? Do you mentally criticize, attack and abuse yourself for having the feelings you try unsuccessfully to suppress, your rages, your hurts, your terrors? If so, you are creating and re-creating the problem and perpetuating a cycle of abuse within the self.

As without, so within: as you treat your own emotional children, as you think about your feelings and yourself, so the world appears to be around you. If you separate yourself from your feelings and see them as a problem to be fixed, you are helping to perpetuate the judgments and ‘good-vs-evil’ polarization in the world around you. You may wish for love, peace and harmony in the world, but it is impossible if you lash your own emotions for not aligning with your vision. You may lash yourselves for feeling jealous fear when your mate seems to be drawn to another or for reacting with angry hurt when a friend seems to treat you disrespectfully, you may tell yourselves stories intended to teach your emotions to be more enlightened, you may patronize your feelings with superior mental knowings.

All these serve to give your emotions this message: you are wrong and bad and should not exist in the form that you do; in order to become good, you must be different than you are. And also: I (mind) am superior to you (emotions), I know things about how you should be that you could learn from if only you were not so (wrong, stupid, bad, crazy, evil).

The mind is meant to serve and to learn from the emotions: not to be in the superior position. The mind has become trapped in its superior stance because that is what it has been taught by consciousness. In a sense, mind has always been told, ‘you ought to know better than these messy uncontrolled emotions.’ Mind has been given the job of controlling the emotions. But emotions are not meant to be controlled, they are meant to flow freely.

When emotions flow freely and the held charge is allowed to release, then the growth and evolvement of the feeling-body that has been held back for so long may unfold naturally. Then, the feelings will no longer feel childlike. The emotional body will be the nurturing mother, wise, gentle, strong and infallibly correct in all her choices.

Neither mind nor emotions are the causal factor; consciousness is the place where the shift must begin. Awareness of what you are doing, thinking and feeling while consciously releasing judgments and beliefs that suppress and control both mind and feelings is the key to change. And this comes through your intent to open, release and accept your true selves and the true nature of creation.

Blanch Did~ya hear? here is my report of what happened...

An historic event happened on Sunday night. (nov 9th)

There was a “Special Meeting” of Nomenus... under the auspices of “electing a new Corporate Secretary“ for the church.

I must say, that I was not actually Notified of the meeting ... no Phone Call, No Letter, No Notice to the CoCo list or Raddish. What I did See, was a Response from Jerry the Faerie posted to CoCo, who I asked: “what is the special meeting?” He said it was to elect a Corp Sec.

I Know that at least 3 members of the church were Not notified at all.

2 days before the meeting, an automated message from CoCo list...
saying the usual coco meeting info, for conference call... I received No other notice.

When we all showed up for the conference call, it turned out, that the first order of the business, was first to Silence me in Process... (wow Bold. you might even say Brazen ) but they still would let me be a ‘member‘.

When it was pointed out that this was against the by-laws... the next proposal was to excommunicate me, apparently in the “consensus minus one” Mode (*since I was no longer allowed to speak on my own behalf...) when my Brother Rick protested and stated his reservation... (Just as we were approaching the ‘stand aside’ portion of the consensus process regarding my expulsion from my church) the proposal was Modified to INCLUDE Rick’s excommunication as well !

*( since I was not allowed to voice my concern I will list it here ...that if this was allowed to happen to me, that there would be others who would be next... and it would be a bad representation of our process to those who did not know better).

Rick was excommunicated as well. ? for failure to capitulate to the mob. ?
presumable the first time in Fae History that a DEFACTO “Consensus minus 2” process was ever used.
(will it be “consensus minus 3...4...5” the next time?)

Now the Mob (many, I have Never heard of ... or ever seen in the process, in all the years I have defended it) became the ‘majority rule’ to ‘tyrannize the minority‘. The total Opposite of what I was taught ‘Fae’ (and Subject/SUBJECT consciousness ) meant.

A Sad Day for Faerie History.

There were so many violations of the bi laws...
Starting with:
~Not notifying at LEAST 3 members, that there would even be a meeting... (3 that I know of, maybe more)...

~Not PUBLISHING the intent to have the meeting. (anywhere...) or what it was to be about (other than the election of a Secretary Presumably) .

~Then the violation of how we make decisions...
By baring Rick from standing against it
Then modifying the ‘proposal’ while call for consensus had already started on another proposal, to include his excommunication as well, for defending my rights..

Rick called it a “Witch Hunt” ... Random clarified that it was a “Kangaroo court“.

All Rick and I are guilty of ... (despite the claims of the active Champaign, to slander us, in order to drive us out) is to try and maintain the spirit of Fae Process ~egalitarian ~Non hierarchal Process...

Now the mob has Ruled and Rula now is “Ruler“...
(Someone actually ‘Slipped’ in the meeting and called her “Ruler”, wow that speaks volumes.. )

Be clear that Great Circle (last) mandated that there would be a mediation with Rick, Rula, Maggot, Iz, and my self... Rick and I repeatedly inquired about this since GC... and was told over and over, that it was “not yet the right time“. Rick and I did not ask for that ... but Now, it looks like we will be denied that process as well.

Please understand that this is totally about a (not so) Hidden agenda to Sweep away the last resistance to making the Sanctuary and the Church a Pangender org... and to put an end to Faggot Sanctuary.

As many of you know... Rick and I have fought the good fight and have spoken to Many of you who encouraged us to fight the fight, to save Faggot Sanctuary... we have apparently lost the battle. The land will be next.

It was an Honor to Serve...
Now I Know how Joan of Ark felt. (Lol)

Wanted to respond to your feelings expressed about many women you have met; re: your mentioning such elsewhere in this tribe.

While i thought it fun that you play a little with the idea of being covered in labels by faeries, i think that maybe my way of seeing might help you more, as far as "many women" you've met is concerned.

What i want to point out is that like other human beings, women, depending on their "class", are programmed in a certain way. Just like men. Except differently. And according to my analysis, there's an actual *intent* on keeping us divided from each other (aka unable to see from each other's vantage point, re: "the battle of the sexes"). Others might say its not so intentional as something along lines of the consequences of something else or other. I look forward to hearing from them, here!

So that further insight may be achieved!

So that's basically all i wanna say for now.

Btw, i tried calling you at the number you sent me, but you never called me back. Did you misplace my number?
(anyway, i no longer have an easy way of talking to you; at least not until a few months from now)

My Piece

I am opening this space for myself for many reasons.

The first thing I want to say is, this is MY space. I am not inviting anyone in this thread to comment or discuss or disagree.

Not to say that you can't do those things, you can. Just open your own space to respond.

The second thing I want to say is, I am not here to argue or get in a fight with anyone. I want to make an opening for more light to come through, and my intent is to bring healing to splits and divisions.

The third thing I want to say is, Ampersand, thank you for holding this community space, and for not editing, or deleting, or removing people. I want to honor that, because it gives me hope for the community at large.

And the last before I start, I am neither agreeing or disagreeing, I am not judging, shaming or blaming. I am not speaking to any individual, I am speaking to the collective consciousness, and the collective UN-consciousness of the group and community at large.

Again, I would like to reiterate, this is my heart-space, my thread, like my home. Please respect the space I am opening. I hope to eventually fill it with light, as density begins to vibrate and unclench to release unloving light. My feelings and impressions and observations are not up for discussion in this thread.

OK My attempt to be less of a "bore"

A Story I wrote today

The FORTRESS

Once upon a time...
there was an old wise man living in a High, tall, fortress on a hill,
a Stone Castle with towers, and Many Rooms Long vacant...

once long ago... there had been, from time to time... Wondrous gatherings of wonderful people... and Happy well behaved children, but they became less and Less, as poverty had spread across the land...
All of his friends had eventually stopped coming... some he went to funerals for... some were Just never heard of again... Presumed Dead... for there had been a terrible Plague (it seemed the women had all fallen ill first... and the infants.) there had been no word from the king for more than a year now...

One day he decided to go out into the world...

as he traveled down the mountain toward where once, there had been a Village.. (Now mostly run down hovels and shacks... ) he came across the first house... he thought he would Stop to see who these neighbors were... there was a very haggard looking old (beyond his years) Man, who Lived in the house... with his boy... a lad of about 6 years old standing Screaming... they Lived alone in the shack... the yard was Strewn with Trash and Broken toys... and the garden was over run with weeds....

after a friendly exchange.. the Wise Man excused himself and walked further down the road...

He Saw the Same Thing again and again, Fathers Living in shacks without wives... trying to raise young boys... in some, the father was Drunk and the Child was caring for the father... . IN Some ... they were embroiled in Such Rage at each other... that they didn’t even Notice the stranger on the road...

One after the other there was Conflict and Chaos...

As it was nearing dark... he came across a Home... it was Not that much bigger... it was Not Any Newer...
but the garden was well kept... there were toy trucks in the yard... even one in the garden...
and on the porch was a strong Gentle Man ... and a Young Boy... he was playing the guitar ... and the boy was playing a Hand made pipe...

The Wise man stopped to listen to their song

When they finished the song, they both rose to their feet and came to their gate, warmly greeting the stranger. After learning their Names and saying who he was... the boy opened the gate... and the Father welcomed him in... it was late... they offered their visitor food from their small larder and offered to let him stay in their bed...

but the Wise man just smiled Warmly and vanished Away...

The Next day he returned... and made them an invitation, almost to wondrous to imagine...
when they eagerly agreed... he asked them to close their eyes ... and counted to 3 ... and when they opened their eyes... they and their house and their garden and all they held dear, were situated Just outside the castle fortress, doors open wide...

The Wise man invited them to be his Neighbor...

Over time... they were all very Happy...
they were never hungry again... and they felt a little less Greife in their hearts each day, for the loss of the Mother ..

As days went by... the boy would come to the shack to play ... or the father to read or think... but more and more... they stayed in the fortress with the wise man, that turned out to be a Relative...
and for the most part.. live in great Happiness forever more...

Tm and I are moving from Wolf Creek Sanctuary to get medical care in Seattle.
We are probably moving to Marrowstone Island and need a place to rent 1-2 days per week so that TM can get care for his stroke(speech therapy and yoga) and I can get HIV care. We need a King County address and we will be in town probably overnight each week.

We can afford up to $200 a month for four nights or so. We could pick days of the week that work best for you.

Water Pollution?

i know that Wolf Creek follows train tracks. This article spurred my concern about possible contamination. Ive always known about the danger of burning such wood, but the fact that it can be so close to a creek, lake, any water source can be alarming.

An Important Message From Your Moderator

I started this tribe almost exactly five years ago. I'd been living at Wolf Creek for almost a year, with almost a year still to go before I moved to Portland, and since Tribe was really taking off within our community at the time, it seemed like a good idea to have a place on the web that was accessible to everybody, so we could keep in touch with each other throughout the year, and to be able to promote Wolf Creek Sanctuary, in particular, the Beltane and Samhain gatherings that are so important to the land and to our tribe.

I've moderated this tribe from the beginning, mostly because I created it and there seemed like to pressing reason to have anybody else do it. Over the years, as Tribe has waxed and waned, so has participation in discussions here. There have been some very sweet moments of reconciliation and affirmation of the strength of our community, but there have also been some deeply painful moments of hatred, recrimination, accusatory politics, and a fair amount of pointless bickering. Often, it has been the snidest and most dishonest heart circle it's ever anybody's displeasure to sit through, let alone attempt to guide.

I've read every single post, mostly word-for-word (I'll admit to skimming now and then, but I'm not proud of it.) I've mostly remained silent, letting things fly and hoping calm heads and sincere respect for one another will prevail. I've tried to allow this to be a neutral space: only when my concepts of integrity and honor were truly challenged have I tossed in my two cents in any sort of negative way. And I've resisted some powerful urges to delete posts and entire threads, because A) I disagree with censorship, no matter how irritated I might be with the content or style of speech and B) I'm not about to stand in the eye of the shit storm that would arise if I started deleting anything (and I will admit that I learned these lessons only through errors, mostly in the first year, and I will also say that I have occasionally deleted posts at the request of the original posters.)

And I don't know if I can do it anymore. My life is changing, and my mind is changing, and I don't feel like I can continue to let all the negative energy that pours through here, continue to pour through me. I'm tired of the bickering and the outrageous claims to martyrdom and the snarking and the ugliness. I'm tired of people seeing Wolf Creek negatively through the broken lens that is this tribe. And I'm tired of reading the same shit over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.

I don't say this to make anybody feel badly about what happens here. I only have to state that I can't take it anymore.

My poor neurotic soul can't take it.

And so I'm going to resign as moderator, effective as soon as somebody comes forward who I trust to continue the moderation of this tribe in a fair and balanced way, as I have striven to do. It won't be open to a vote -- I doubt the ten or so of us who actually read the posts here would be able to agree on anybody, anyway, but I'm taking it as my right as moderator to appoint my own successor (and anybody having a problem with that can go complain to the powers that be at Tribe).

I firmly believe that the arguments that have occurred here, that occur here, have very little to do with the real essence of Wolf Creek, that intangible holy mess of a place that we all love without knowing why. Wolf Creek will always be a spiritual home to me, and I will always do everything I can to make it available to as many people as feel called to go there, to make magic there.

I do not believe in the word pangenderist.

I do believe in Nomenus.

I do believe that we all can get along, and the ones of us that can't, just plain fucking can't, and so be it.

Challenges abound when powerful people come together, and so be it.

I need to take care of myself, and so be it.

so i was reflecting earlier today about how much i love wolf creek sanctuary

and how much healing and space for growth i've received from being on the land....

and i realized that a lot of the compleat shite that takes place here on this tribe is a really poor reflection of what's going on at the sanctuary.... and i've concluded that this tribe is largely a waste of my precious personal time. (your maya may vary) i've concluded that interactions online tend to produce more heat than light. and i'm dangerously close to burning out. i have a lot of other amazing opportunities in my life right now that will be taking me outdoors away from the monotonous hum of computers and the desperate ploys for attention tapped onto keyboards.

i also realized, hey! i'm not a radical faerie. and yet here i am wasting my precious time trying to mediate for squabbling faes.

i'm not gay. and i've been meddling in the affairs of a gay men's church.

i'm not a faggot. and yet there's far too many times when something i've written has been used as kindling for someone else's flame war.

Ok ... here is the thread to address the M4M Policy for Nomenus WOLF CREEK Sanctuary.

The Fact is, that Most people say they recognize the value, (or the right) Nomenus has ... to those times...

I think most would agree that it has been a conflict Long enough.

So here, we can Discuss the compromises, that are needed to END THE WAR.

I have been participant in this discussion for YEARS,
so I have a Pretty good idea of where the middle ground is...

So I am going to outline what I think that is.
as a Place to start... talking.

>1) 2 weeks out of each month for m4m Space.
so that it does NOT have to be 'REQUESTED'... and EVERYONE can KNOW when it is... and when it is NOT.
I think that an org that established the land has a Right to use it for its indented purpose HALF of the time. some say ALL the time... I Say Half is Fair and Reasonable.

Wolf Creek or Short Mountain?

I drove to Wolf Creek from San Francisco in 1997 during August and had a blast with Lucky there.
I haver not returned because my sights turned to Short Mountain... in the next ten years.... I have been there 5 times.
I have a lover now, rather young, that is interested in coming for Beltane. I am wondering what Wolf Creek has to offer as far as the number of attendants and general vibe for the ritual on May Day. Short Mountain will have over 400 participants and generally be an organized chaos...
I am really wondering if anyone has any input about whether a smaller gathering for the first timer would be more ideal....
Since I have not been to Wolf Creek in 12 years i was just wondering....

I know that any contribution to the vibe will be strictly of my own efforts....
any comments would be appreciated.

Looksism, Body Weight and Faeries

In another thread here the subject of a faerie's body weight came up in a mean spirited way. I would guess this issue has been discussed before since somebody used the term "looksism." I am sure it exists, but what exactly is looksism? How do we distinguish looksism form that fact that most of us have some sort of preference for who we wish to relate to sexually. Is that looksism?

My expierence has been that when it comes to body weight faeries carry some of the same baggage of prejudice that exists in the rest of the world including the wider Gay community. And while I could not be described as fat myself I have heard faeries make very cutting and unkind remarks about faeries who are fat. I personally think it is really un faerie like to judge a person on somethig as trivial as their weight. On the other hand I can see how one might have a preference for a certian body type be that thin, hairy smoothe, bearish, etc. What is not appropriate IMHO would be to exclude a faerie who is fat from social circles merely for that issue or to try to make thinness the paradigm for how faeries should look.

Hello beloved faerie kin. The time of Beltaine is fast approaching and there is much work to do! There are a few of us who have gathered already in anticipation of writing the beltaine call and co-facilitating the gathering as a whole. We are calling out to all of those fabulous individuals who feel inspired to be a part of this process. We are looking for queens to help write the official call for the gathering and also those who are interested in facilitating (kitchen queen, reg queen, ritual guru…etc.) For those of you who don’t know, WE HAVE NO SEED MONEY FOR THE GATHERING THIS YEAR! This means that as of right now there is no money to buy food to feed you or propane to cook the food to feed you. Also the caretakers are taking a hiatus from actively facilitating Beltaine. So WE (that means the people who only visit Wolf Creek) need to get it done! There is going to be an introductory/call brainstorming/writing meeting Thursday Feb. 12th at honey house in Portland. Marijuana is much more than a simple recreational drug. There are good reasons, from their point of view, for the established order’s determined campaign to eradicate the cannabis plant from the face of the earth. The effects of marijuana are not predictable nor are the people who ingest it as easily controlled as the so-called ‘straight’ population.

Marijuana is a ‘mother’ plant, which is to say, it is medicine for the Will. People who ingest this medicine tend to find themselves less willing to do things that they don’t really want to do. It is, of course, very true that, like any substance, this medicine can be abused, i.e., used in an unconscious and habitual way without regard for the actual effect or the presence of real, in-the-moment desire for its particular vibration.

It is up the individual’s will to feel what is really desired and required by the self. However, the ill effects of marijuana habituation are still relatively benign, compared to the ill effects of the habitual thought patterns and entrenched judgment structures which marijuana can help to undermine.

Marijuana leads to fresh perspectives and new creative pathways in the brain. It is a consciousness facilitator, and in those who are already gapped and detached from their emotional bodies, cannabis can amplify the gap until the denials become intolerable and something breaks loose.

It is possible to live behind a smokescreen, using sweet smoke to soothe emotional pains, and for some people, that is not wrong. Not everyone is on the path of vibrating and moving emotions. Everyone has a right pace for their process, and some have not yet begun their journey, for they must wait for those ahead of them in line, so to speak, to complete certain stages of their process before it will be possible for these ones to find acceptance for their own vibration.

Some people, farther down in the chain of fragmentation, just need a way to get through their lives with minimum damage and a modicum of light presence.

Cannabis relieves pain, emotional as well as physical pain; it can also exacerbate mental pain and confusion in those who tend in that direction. It is likely that those people are not drawn to smoking, however. Not everyone enjoys marijuana, and it tends to be the ones who need it most who are called to it and who feel helped.

If you feel helped by this plant, allow yourself to feel the help and to receive it with whatever degree of gratefulness you naturally do feel (without manufacturing grateful thoughts to generate grateful feelings)

This medicine will work for you until it no longer does, and at that point, it will stop feeling good to you to use it. Trust your will’s sense of rightness and make the choices you need to take only at the promptings of your body. Body will let you know when she has had enough.

Reasons for quitting smoking marijuana can include a rather vast guilt presence, for if you are befriending the spirit of the green herb, then you are consciously violating the laws of your society, and you are each very imprinted to feel furtive and guilty when you do that. Whether you are consciously aware of it or not, rebellion from the societal norm is a trigger for a deep stress reaction as your imprinting pressures you to conform under threat of dire consequences, for among the oldest imprints in existence is, if you fail to go along with the majority’s rule, then you will be exiled, tortured, or murdered in various dreadful ways.

History is full of examples of this imprint proving itself with repeats of the pattern, over and over, and those of you with a bent toward rebellion have always been rebels, and have suffered the consequences in your evolutionary histories. The memories of these consequences still pressure you deep down with terror that shrieks for movement at a very deep quantum level. It is difficult to access terror that is imprinted on the quantum particles of your being, and it is dangerous to go past it, too.

It is better to stop taking marijuana if you have a gut feeling that there is something wrong about doing it, unless you can access the terror at the base core level of defying the laws of your dominant society.

The danger with marijuana is not that it will harm you directly, unless you are so gapped from your will that you are unable to sense when you have had enough; the danger is that denied guilt and terror will trigger a backlash that can land on you with harmful consequences in order to get these emotions triggered.

This is where the healing lies—not in ‘quitting’ or ‘kicking the habit’, but by entering the experience, feeling and receiving all that it has to offer.

Sitting on the fence of the experience—choosing to smoke and pushing away any emotions that stir in the background behind the veil of smoke—ignoring subliminal discomfort, whether guilt, terror or something else—in favour of experiencing the qualities of marijuana that feel good to you can only lead you deeper into denial, and this is not the true nature or right use of marijuana.

Sooner or later, relationship with marijuana will bring massive triggers to the surface. It is best to seek those triggers sooner rather than to be taken by surprise by having them land on you in a state of denial.

A request.

Please keep in mind before replying here on this thread that when we make statements that are critical of others, we may trigger emotional responses. This reminder is primarily for me. Please try to focus on what we have in common.

So I'd like to explore what this tribe has in common and how we can work towards building consensus.

Consensus is rooted in common ground, compromise and trust.

I know that not everyone here trusts each other.

But i'm betting we can work out compromises that benefit everybody.

I'm going to suggest that a potential starting point be:

* A shared commitment to Wolf Creek Sanctuary as a place where we "create, preserve and manage places of spiritual and cultural sanctuary, for Radical Faeries and their friends to gather in harmony with nature, for renewal, growth and shared learning."

The part in quotes is from the Nomenus website. I suggest this intention as a starting point for common ground. That we consider prioritizing our concern for Wolf Creek Sanctuary as a place of healing and transformation to be held more important than other issues (for example, our differences in opinion over who is/is not a Radical Faerie).

From my perspective, the root issue is not about who can or cannot be a member of Nomenus.

The roots that need to be addressed are threefold

1. Creating more ways to balance periods of time throughout the year when the sanctuary is focused around male-loving-male-only spaces with other periods of time when the sanctuary is open to all genders.

2. Clarifying the ways that non-members can participate in Nomenus decision-making process

3. Creating more ways and opportunities for Nomenus to address grievances and abuses of process.

Again, please consider refraining from being critical of individuals. Let's brainstorm ways that we can be different instead of just rehashing all the hurtful shit from the past that we already know isn't working for us.... How can we work together to heal our wounds and treat each other with more respect and consideration????

I've been chewing over this whole question of boundaries in Tribe-space -- really struggling with how to establish personal boundaries and hold onto my power in the face of what feels like an extremely powerful victim/abuser dynamic.

Here's what I've figured out so far: I can't control other people's behavior. I can only control what I pay attention to and how I respond to it.

So, for future reference, here are some highly effective ways to get me NOT to engage in dialogue with you:

Call me names. Make up bad stories about my motivations and those of people I know and respect. Be incessantly negative and angry. Say the same things over and over, in every thread, no matter what it actually started out being about. Take up all the air in the room with your resentments. Put the worst possible spin on everything. Try to make me pay for your hurt at the hands of other people. Make sexist generalizations about women. Be totally unconscious about your projections. Accuse other people of the exact things you yourself are doing. Send me intentionally hurtful private messages. Wish for bad things to happen to me. Never, ever apologize or take responsibility for your part. Become enraged or jeer at me when I say you've hurt my feelings. Blame me for things that I never did, and that are not actually within my power.

These behaviors are not OK with me, and I won't be a victim to them.

I decline to interact with anyone who treats me like this. I choose instead to give my attention to people who treat me and others in this community with love and respect.

Hiking around WCS

I have a couple of questions regarding hiking around WCS.

Anyone have any experience hiking into WCS from, say, Grants Pass? Follow the tracks or the freeway? How long should this take? I'm thinking strictly walking -- not hitching, bicycling, train hopping or otherwise getting a ride.

Anyone have any experience hiking from WCS to the coast? It seems to me, from Google Maps and Google Earth, that one should be able to follow the Creek to the River, the River to the Ocean. A quick assessment looks like its about 70 miles and, theoretically, all down hill. What a neat little journey it would be to walk to the ocean, following the water. Coming back might be a bit more challenging though.

What about from the PCT to the Sanctuary?

So, has anyone made any significant hikes to/from WCS?

The Friday Evening event is open to all faeries, it is an intentional beverage consumption

If something is not on the agenda, it can be a discussion item and possibly placed on the next Great Circle's agenda. It cannot be pushed through as a proposal at the same GC it is brought up for in discussion if it was not on the agenda as published in the Raddish.
This is not just any issue. Nomenus is a faggot church and was established solely for that purpose. Changing that is extremely controversial and we consened to restate we are a faggot only organization as recently as 2004, and before that in 1997.
There are some of us who will block changing this, and yes we would have a comperhensive alternative proposal.
I will not be attending this Great Circle. I have heard all sides of this controversy for many years. Why don't people who want to have a pangender organization start there own and buy their own land? Why do people want a civil war in Nomenus? No one can win, everyone will lose. It could result, in the worse case scenario, to lawsuits, the breakup of Nomenus and thwe sale of the land. Pangender groups have close to full access to Wolf Creek why do they insist on claiming ownership and management rights to the only Radical Faerie faggot organixzation in the world?
The radical faeries and nomenus are two very different entities. People need to see this through.
